Meet our March Design Consultant

This March we would like you to meet a founding Design Consultant:  Megan C.  Perhaps the thoughts she shares during her interview will explain why she has been so dedicated to Maddy Moo Creations.

1. How did you find out about Maddy Moo?
About three and half years ago, I was looking at random websites, looking for a new type of direct sales company. Seeing a Design Your Own Handbag company piqued my interest because I have never heard of anything like that before.
2. How long after that did you order your consultant kit?
About two weeks. I spent some time researching and comparing it to a few other companies I found some interest in. I compared products, prices, compensation and leadership programs. I also sent the websites to my friends to pilot and look through, because ultimately, they needed to be my biggest customers and supporters in order to help me jump start and sustain my new business.
3. Why did you decide to become a Maddy Moo Design Consultant?
A few reasons. I wanted to be part of something new and exciting. I was the first person in New York State to sign up as a consultant, and I liked the challenge of starting my business from the ground up. Also, hearing friends reactions to being able to design their own hand bag, and their excitement and enthusiasm to have parties and share this new concept with their friends and family was invigorating!
4. What is your favorite style of bag?
Heehee…I have a few. I won a contest and was able to name the Chase bag after my son, and I donate a portion of those proceeds to the Rochester Chapter of Autism Speaks, so that bag is so special to me.  The Megan bag was named after me when I had been successful in the company for a number of months, and I tend to carry that bag the most. It’s so versatile and is such a sharp looking bag that goes with any outfit I’m wearing or event I’m attending. And I have multiple designs of the Kate bag. It’s so trendy and adorable, and it’s deceivingly large on the inside!
5. What do you love most about being a Maddy Moo Design Consultant?
I love being “out in the field” and working with such fun women and helping them design a fabulous bag that showcases their personality. I love working for Elizabeth Chester, Maddy Moo’s CEO, who is so passionate and enthusiastic about not only her company, but the consultants. She has an invested interest in each and every one of us, and is constantly motivating and inspiring us by designing new and innovative products that our customers are going to find fresh and stylish. Elizabeth’s leadership encourages me to try new practices in my business and to challenge myself to always be better. Having somebody believe in you is truly encouraging and makes my “job” fun!
6. How do you measure your success with Maddy Moo?
When somebody gets a bag that they ordered and tells me how much they love it and can’t wait to order another one! Or when I’m in a store and I see a stranger carrying a Maddy Moo bag, and I think to myself, “She’s carrying that bag because of me! I started this trend in NY!”
7. Is there anything that you have learned about yourself from being a Maddy Moo Design Consultant?
That I’m really great with all different types of people and personalities. You meet so many interesting ladies and are welcomed into so many homes. I love talking and getting to know and make new friends. Hanging out with girls, parties and purses really doesn’t feel like a job!
8. What are you looking forward to the most about being a Maddy Moo Design Consultant in 2011?
Constantly challenging myself to learn new techniques in selling or promoting my product, and to not get too comfortable using the same practices that I have been doing for 3 years. That keeps me motivated and energized to keep booking parties, because no two are the same!
9. Do you have any tips for someone considering becoming a Maddy Moo Design Consultant?
You need to really love the product that your selling. If you have a genuine enthusiasm for your product, it will shine through when you are talking about your bags. Find a favorite bag or two and fabric and have a “story” to tell about them, like my earlier examples about the Chase and Megan bags. It makes people relate to the product and want to create their own “story’ with a Maddy Moo bag!

February’s: Meet a Maddy Moo Design Consultant

This February, we wanted to give you an inside look at Design Consultant Natalie H’s career with Maddy Moo.  Read below for her scoop on being happy with Maddy Moo.

1. How did you find out about Maddy Moo?                                                                                               I first heard about Maddy Moo when I joined a networking group, I was selling for another company at that time. There was a girl in the group that was a Design Consultant, she gave me her card… I was really intrigued and had never heard of Maddy Moo. I went home and checked her website, I immediately thought how I might be interested in being a consultant, but didn’t know how I could do it with my other business.

 2. How long after that did you order your consultant kit?
1 week after!

3. Why did you decide to become a Maddy Moo Design Consultant?                            I originally decided to become a consultant because I really wanted a discount, but my calendar filled up pretty fast and my team started to grow so I figured this was what I needed to be doing!

4. What is your favorite style of bag?                                                                                          I LOVE LOVE the Megan bag. It truly is the perfect bag! Fabric? Oh my gosh I love so many, but my absolute favs are the Zebra (I want every bag in it) and the Fancy Candy Pink.

5. What do you love most about being a Maddy Moo Design Consultant?                  I love the flexibility of having my own business. I work as little or as much as I want. I love all of the people I have met and the relationships that have been formed, not only with customers but fellow consultants and my team.

6. How do you measure your success with Maddy Moo?                                                   I measure success in general by determining if it is making me happy. Maddy Moo definitely does that for me. I have learned a new independence thanks to Maddy Moo.

7. Is there anything that you have learned about yourself from being a Maddy Moo Design Consultant?                                                                                                                    I have learned that although something may seem scary and out of your comfort level it can pay off BIG time, so just take the leap!

8. What are you looking forward to the most about being a Maddy Moo Design Consultant in 2011?                                                                                                                            I love how things are always changing at Maddy Moo and how the company is growing so much. I am looking forward to future incentive trips and growing right along with Maddy Moo.

9. Do you have any tips for someone considering becoming a Maddy Moo Design Consultant?                                                                                                                              I always tell anyone thinking about Maddy Moo to JUST GO FOR IT, more than likely you will end up with a bunch of new friends and some money in your pocket! Worst case you have some awesome bags to keep!

The Fabulous World of Fabric

Curtains, clothes, bedding, furniture… Have you ever thought about all of the wonderful uses for fabric? We sure have.
Designers and most major retailers wouldn’t exist with it. We would be naked and cold without it! Fabric plays such a huge part in everyone’s life, and it’s something that most people never even think about.
Here at Maddy Moo, we put our fabulous fabrics to many good uses (specifically our bags). Have you ever tried to create something with fabric? Perhaps you tried to make the curtains for your home, or the Christmas stockings that hung by the fire? Perhaps you have even mastered (or dabbled in) the art of making clothes.  All of the designers and retailers out there have their works of art on display, and we would like to see yours! Share any of your wonderful fabric creations with us, Maddy Moo Creations, on Facebook!

Meet a Maddy Moo Design Consultant

Kristi M and Family

We at Maddy Moo Creations wanted to give you a little inside look at one of our Design Consultants. Read below to find out Design Consultant Kristi M’s thoughts and feelings on her career with Maddy Moo.

How did you find out about Maddy Moo?                                                                                                    I initially found out about Maddy Moo when I was doing a web search for direct sales companies that were accredited by the DSA.  Maddy Moo stood out amongst the rest because of the unique nature of the product and the limited representation of consultants in the area I live.

How long after that did you order your consultant kit?                                                     I was hooked right away and ordered my kit within 2 days.  It was like Christmas morning when the box arrived and I could get my hands on the fabrics and bags!

Why did you decide to become a Maddy Moo Design Consultant?                              I was a consultant with another direct sales company for about a year and a half and grew tired of how difficult it was to expand my business due to the nature of the product.  Being a full time mom and graduate student I needed to turn elsewhere to earn some money toward my tuition as well as my son’s preschool tuition, which isn’t much cheaper!  Maddy Moo just seemed like the perfect fit.

What is your favorite style of bag? Fabric?                                                                          As of now my favorite bag in the collection is the Megan, but my new accessory obsession is the Mayra key chain.  In terms of fabric my choice is without a doubt Mojito all the way.

What do you love most about being a Maddy Moo Design Consultant?               The thing that I love most about being a design consultant is the support given to us by Elizabeth and her team.  I am still amazed at the dedication and responsibility put forth into the success of this company.  The first time I ever called the home office before joining I was amazed that Elizabeth answered the phone!  How often do you talk to the founder of a company when you call the corporate office?

How do you measure your success with Maddy Moo?                                            Happy customers is the way that I measure my success as a design consultant.  Sure the income is nice too, but watching the reaction of someone seeing their design come to life is priceless!

Is there anything that you have learned about yourself from being a Maddy Moo Design Consultant?                                                                                                                  I learned that I now need to have a fun bag to coordinate with every pair of shoes I own!  Thanks Maddy Moo and my husband thanks you too!

What are you looking forward to the most about being a Maddy Moo Design Consultant in 2011?                                                                                                                    With the new year underway I can’t wait to get my hands on the new bags and fabrics so that I can add to my own collection.  I also look forward to meeting new people and getting together with old friends to help them accessorize.

Do you have any tips for someone considering becoming a Maddy Moo Design Consultant?                                                                                                                        My advice to anyone wanting to join is that you don’t need to be a pushy sales person, because the bags and accessories sell themselves so flaunting your own work of art or one from the kit will do the trick!

Earlier this fall, we received the most exciting and supportive email about a very satisfied customer. –To that very satisfied customer: We are very happy that you are so pleased; your email put smiles on all of our faces! This message was so nice, that we decided to share it with everyone and dedicate a blog post to our broadening Maddy Moo family and friends!

From a Very Satisfied Customer:

Too exciting to keep to myself!

Lisa and Christine

I have had the most wonderful experiences with Maddy Moo!  That’s right experiences – because I just couldn’t help but go back for more.  My consultant – Christine B. in Henrietta, NY – helped me to design a bag I just love.  I am not the only one who loves my unique creation – I receive compliments every time I use it. In fact, I brought it with me to another Maddy Moo party & all of the other guests expressed how much they wanted one just like it – at first.  I say “at first” because once they each had an opportunity to see all the other many fabrics & style bags, as well as embellishments, the possibilities were essentially endless.

I overheard the same familiar excitement & felt the same positive energy around the room, from all who attended, as they each discovered how to create a bag which suited them perfectly. The hostess’s husband couldn’t even stay away! He worked cleverly on the side to design a bag for his wife!

I am so grateful that such a wonderful product exists & that I am fortunate enough to have been able to share in its contagious magic!

 Lisa C.

Thank you so much Lisa, we hope that our Maddy Moo Family’s hard work can leave many more very satisfied customers!

None of the Maddy Moo success, excitement, or happiness would be possible without all of you! From the bottom of our bags:  thank you and have a very merry holiday!
